About Beyond Words Tutoring
Beyond Words Tutoring is a family business based in Oslo/Akershus Norway, run by Timur and Rachael Akhadov Thorsen. The company is registered in Norway (registration number: 916 495 781).
Our Mission
We strive to provide affordable tailor-made education in various aspects of the English language (grammar, writing, speaking, etc.). In our education, we are driven by the idea that language learning is a social process which requires real life interaction. For this reason, we purposefully avoid confining our students to a classroom; instead, we encourage arrangements that foster natural communication and help our students gain confidence in their ability to speak English. Our business model is motivated by our belief that learning a language is very much an individual journey - a journey that we will make sure you enjoy as much as the destination itself!
About Timur
Timur is an educated English teacher and linguist with over 10 years of teaching experience. He has taught English in a variety of different countries including Canada, Lithuania and, most recently, Norway. In addition to teaching conversational English, Timur's areas of expertise include teaching business English, English for finance, and various forms of academic writing and research. Timur has helped a number of English language learners by inspiring them to achieve both personal confidence and communicative competence in speaking English.
About Rachael
Rachael is a mother-tongue speaker of English with a Master's Degree in Linguistics and a knack for languages. At the end of her master's program she was awarded the "Governor's award for excellence" (given to the graduate with the highest GPA). Needless to say, she has extensive experience in writing good papers! Rachael has been able to put this expertise to good use, teaching in Canada and Lithuania. Rachael is a detail-oriented person who enjoys proofreading all kinds of texts, from papers to master theses and even books.
